PAZZION Sponsors The Art of Shoes 2016 to Nurture Budding Designers in Singapore

SINGAPORE, 15 JUNE 2016| Aspiring shoe designers now have a chance to pursue their dreams with The Art of Shoes Competition 2016! Home-grown shoe brand Pazzion is pleased to sponsor The Art of Shoes Competition 2016, to nurture and groom a new generation of budding Singapore designers passionate about footwear and fashion.

The Art of Shoes Competition 2016 is organized by The Academy of Fashion Professions (TaF.tc), the training arm of Taff (Textile & Fashion Federation), in collaboration with Pazzion, e2i and WDA. The competition is conceptualised to discover, recognize and nurture shoe design talents, who are passionate about and dedicated to the art and craft of footwear design. Participants will go through a 4-day course held in May to July under the tutelage of TaF.tc’s trainers to prepare for the competition.

The competition seeks to highlight the skill, creativity and effort that goes into the making of footwear. Through this competition, the participants will have an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities as well as sharpen their skills. They will be showcasing their original designs for a ballerina shoe, a ladies’ wedge sandal  and a ladies’ high heel court shoe.

The winner will not only receive a sponsored trip to MICAM 2016, the leading international footwear exhibition held in Milan, Italy, he or she will also be offered to join a mentorship programme at Pazzion and work directly under Tom Ng, Founder of Pazzion, as a footwear designer for 2 months.

“Over our 14-year journey, we have received tremendous support from customers and industry professionals, thus we would like to give back by lending a helping hand to those who have just embarked on theirs. Through this competition, we hope to identify local design talents and groom them for the world stage. I’m excited to see their fresh interpretations on the three classic shoes and look forward to mentoring the winner,” said Tom Ng, Founder of Pazzion.

He added, “At the same time, we want to do our part to enhance and grow our city’s reputation as a hub for design and creativity.”

Tom will sit on a panel of judges for this competition. 8 finalists wil be announced in July and the finalists’ 24 pairs of shoe design prototypes will be showcased in the finale on 28 October 2016.
